Experience after BPPV, Vestibula hypo-dysfunction sequela. How to overcome this dizziness by using exercises?

Since suffering from BPPV, otolithiasis, dizziness has been going back and forth. Sometimes there are nausea. However, it doesn’t put too much stress on daily life or work, but it’s still not clear and it feels dazed. In some cases, the sequela of vestibular problems are suffered in this way, as there may be symptoms of decreased vestibular hypo-dysfunction. In this case, implementing rehabilitation exercise methods that enhance these balancing functions helps to recover quickly. Today’s posting will introduce a rehabilitation exercise that can improve the vestibular function for those who feel the aftereffects of dizziness like me. First of all, these exercises should be do 20 to 30 times a day, 2-3 sets a day, for at least three weeks.

1.Cawthorne-Cooksey Exercises

1) Move your eyes slowly up, down, left, right, left, right, and left, and away from your eyes. Moves the head up, down, or left and right.

Let’s start light. You can open your eyes or close your eyes. Usually, it is better to start when dizziness is not acute, but after a while, when the sequela remain. Usually, hospitals recommend starting if symptoms do not disappear after three weeks to a month.

2) For exercise 2, shrug your shoulders while sitting and turn your shoulders to the left and right. Also, Turn the head and torso from side to side while sitting.

3) Sit down and stand up. Throw and catch small balls alternately from left to right. Throw and hold the ball from hand to hand under the knee.


4) Throw and catch the ball while walking. Go up and down the stairs. I look around the room with my eyes open and close. Let’s play a game using a ball.

2.Gaze Stabilization Exercises

3.Balance Exercises

There are many kinds of balancing exercises, and the body needs three senses to balance.

1. Eye 2. Ear 3. Somatic Sensitivity (also known as foot sole)

4. Precautions for Exercise

1) It is good to do it twice a day for 10 minutes every day.

2) If symptoms arise, do not exercise too much.
